Third day - big one!
Third day was an adventure! I started in Godaniemi in the sunshine, which usually is a tricky condition. A small Pahtakorva on the leader and the first take came just 20 meters out. The salmon went down over! The first run - 100 meter and the first jump one meter in the air - AMAZING! After a god fight a slid in the net, a bit more than one meter, glistening. A 12 kilo male! I continued with my small Pahtakorva and had two more pulls, lost an 8 kilos and had a grilse. An amazing start. We went down to Valliniva in the sun, difficult… just a grilse. On Gabo there was an brownish 5 kilos which didn’t want to take.
After the food we went to the top where I lost the salmon of my life, 40 min fight and about 25 kilo, something I’ll never forget. The take was by the rock! Heavy the the first drag, fu.. I got the feeling it was hooked bad. It took 100 meters from the reel on its way down to Bulvero. Big one again! We got the fish to turn and rowed it up to the tunnel where it turned around again and went down over. When they’re this big you can do nothing but follow! 100 meter out and the salmon was up and turn on the surface a few times, and the hook let go…
Shit… to lose a really big one is something I’ll never learn. A bleeding soul… Clearly over 15 kilo… 17.5 said Pål my experienced boatsman… hmm… 15 or maybe 20. Maybe not 20, but not far away! Time to go to sleep with new experiences from the best salmon river in the world…
