Peter Christensen

OPLEV, DENMARK

Peter is born and raised in Denmark and as many fly anglers he started early. Already at the age of three he started fishing for trout with his father. Peter’s childhood was filled with hunting and fishing, and with a lot of respect for the nature. At an early age, he learned how complex nature is, and how humanity can influence positively and negatively. Fly fishing has given him many amazing experiences, in some of the most breathtaking surroundings, and he says he feel more than thankful for it.

Other than as an educated fishing and outdoor guide Peter also spends as much of this free time as possible in the nature. For him it’s the perfect way to drift away, breath, and feel free. His main target is sea run browns and Atlantic salmon, species which he prefers targeting on the surface, when the conditions are right. We all have preferences regarding favorite waters - Peter likes smaller to medium sized rivers with different currents, perfect for surface fishing. Besides fishing in rivers, he practices a lot of traditional coastal fly fishing in Denmark - the Danish coast is among the best in the world.Big foam flies, hitch flies, traditional dry fly and bombers are often at the end of Peters leader, and he has a strong believe in those kind of flies.

Peter is pro nature, he believes nature has to be a higher priority in our modern society.
– We have to take care, have to be responsible, it’s our duty, Peter says. His goal every year, is to contribute something good regarding nature conservation. The last three years he has been lucky getting the chance to participate in a salmon preservation program in northern Norway. He believes it’s not only good karma but also necessary. If humanity gives something, nature gives us something back, quite easy, he thinks.Peter who is a positive guy ends by saying:
– Let’s tie a fly and go fishing, in a responsible way, isn’t that what life’s all about!?
